Printable Fill-In Crossword Puzzles

A fill-in crossword works beautifully on paper: you get the empty grid, the full word bank sorted by length, and a pencil does the rest. Every puzzle on this site can be printed as a clean black-and-white sheet, free, with no account and no limit.

How it works

  1. Open the printable fill-in crossword puzzles page.
  2. Choose a difficulty. Easier puzzles can be solved by pure deduction and include a starting letter; the hardest ones make even the first placement a real decision.
  3. Press the print button in the corner (or just hit Ctrl+P). The print dialog opens with a paper-friendly page: the grid, the word list, and nothing else.
  4. Print as many as you like. Every puzzle is freshly generated with exactly one solution, so the supply never runs out.

What you get on the page

The sheet shows the crossword grid with empty cells ready to fill in, any starting letter the difficulty provides, and the complete word bank grouped by word length below it. That grouping matters on paper: scanning for the rarest length is the classic first move, as our fill-in crossword strategies guide explains.

Good to know

  • Portrait orientation fits best on A4 and US Letter.
  • Black ink only, and a pencil with an eraser beats a pen for this kind of puzzle.
  • Printing does not touch your on-screen progress or best times.
